Biography

Peter Williams is a new media artist originally from Canada. Specializing in participatory, generative, interactive, installation, and internet art, he makes tactically unstable works that meet, avert, and translate the gaze. Contemporary media is elastic and chimerical; it more and more resembles us. Through his art, Williams struggles with this ever-deepening recursion. Williams received his M.F.A. from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. His past and upcoming exhibitions include international venues such as ISEA2002 (Nagoya), ISEA 2004 (Estonia), ISEA 2008 (Singapore), Skolska28 (Prague), MAF ’05 (Bangkok), IDMAA (Philadelphia), the Hong Kong Visual Arts
Centre (Hong Kong), 3331 Arts Chiyoda (Tokyo), Cardiff School of Art and Design (Wales), Onassis Cultural Centre (Athens), Art’otel (Amsterdam) and New York Institute of Technology (New York City).
